God Calls Abraham

Genesis 12

Luna narrates

Abraham lived in a city called Ur, a comfortable place with his family and everything familiar to him. Then one day, God spoke to him: "Leave your country, your relatives, and your father's house, and go to a land I will show you." God promised that Abraham would become the father of a great nation, and that through him all the families of the earth would be blessed.

Abraham could have said, "That's too hard. I don't even know where I'm going!" But Abraham trusted God completely. He packed up everything, took his wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, and all his household, and set off on a journey into the unknown. He was seventy-five years old when he left.

God led Abraham to the land of Canaan and repeated His promise there. Abraham built an altar and worshipped God with gratitude. This act of leaving everything behind and trusting God completely is called faith. The Coptic Church honors Abraham as the father of all believers, someone who teaches us that when God calls, we say yes — even when the path is uncertain.
